Winter Park Ski-Music Festival
A music festival for school bands, choirs and orchestras, combining a music performance/competition along with really fun and adventurous mountain recreation during the warmer months of March and/or April. Music students can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, downhill tubing, scenic chairlift rides, snow cat tours, and/or downhill scenic snowshoe tours.
Typical ensembles to perform are: concert bands, concert choirs (mixed, women and men’s), full & string orchestras, show choirs, pop/jazz choirs, jazz bands & orchestras, percussion ensembles, color guards, dance & drill teams, piano ensembles, guitar ensembles, and mariachi ensembles. Your students will experience a renowned music competition with other music groups from across the nation. And to conclude your music festival travel, we offer a music and special effects filled Awards Ceremony and Street Dance to reward your students’ hard work and musical achievements. Directors share with us, the WPSMF awards ceremony is often their students’ most memorable high school experience.
Just imagine your band, choir or orchestra traveling into the majestic Rocky Mountains west of Denver, crossing this nation’s visually breathtaking Continental Divide, descending into Winter Park, nestled in a valley surrounded by beautiful snow-covered mountain peaks towering over 13,000 feet in elevation. Outside of the classroom setting, directors find it really comfortable traveling with their students to a breathtaking outdoor geographical location, in the safe, less populated, slower paced Winter Park, Colorado.
WPSMF offers many different festival packages for a group to choose from. The differences are simply which overnight lodging choice to stay within, and the number of nights (2-4) you wish to stay, best fulfilling your travel desires and budget. Each festival package, for each group member, includes their overnight lodging bed space, choice of recreation activity(s), a travel protection plan purchased on their behalf, and participation in all festival activities. For example, any group member choosing to ski or snowboard will receive a 4 day lift card, 4 days of rental equipment, and a beginner lesson. Or, we offer substitute mountain activities for non-skiers.
Many directors also tell us this trip is their most affordable trip, while also being the most requested destination by students who attended previously. Our “per person” package prices will surprise you, and may offer the most affordable ski trip experience your students may ever receive again.
The Winter Park Ski-Music Festival will celebrate its 31st anniversary in 2020. Over our past 30 consecutive years, we have created lifelong memories for well over 155,000 participants, and near 1,200 different school music programs! This unique festival provides the ultimate in music student spring trip travel.
